The EITI standard is meanwhile being implemented by more than 50 countries all over the world, 19 of which are candidates and 27 of which are EITI members. Together with their respective governments, more than 90 large oil, gas and mining companies have undertaken to give accounts of their activities in EITI countries.
Many international and civil society organisations also support the EITI. These include 400 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the International Council of Mining and Metals and regional development banks. These organisations provide technical and financial support to countries implementing the EITI standard and promote the dissemination of the EITI.
